It is only natural that we as a species of humans do feel low, drained or depressed at times. Or as some intelligent people have suitably termed it ---> Darn its Monday Morning again.
Fun apart, depression is a very serious thing, atleast that's what we all feel till we`ve gotten out of it. We almost always give it more credence than it actually deserves. Its almost like the time when you were little and watched older children riding bikes and started wondering in Awe and Amusement what it would be like to ride one just like them, and then when you fell a couple of (hundred) times trying and finally got the hang of it, you start thinking; What was the fuss all about ?
Depression; I have come to believe cons your mind into functioning in fear and coercion and makes you defensive apart from tricking you into Swimming in the Sea of Self Pity and thinking and overthinking every move that follows this short bout of depression. It is ofcourse self made and inflicted but this is a fact you only come to realize after every single episode of the aforesaid Disease Depression.
Enough said about Depression, if it is'nt depressing enough already ??? :P
Cures for Depression, I`m no Psych(Shrink) but these are tried and tested methods to overcome or atleast improve the state of depression.
1. Watching Random episodes of F.R.I.E.N.D.S.
Dosage includes watching anything ranging from a single episode to a Complete Season.
2. Watching BLOOPER episodes of F.R.I.E.N.D.S
Now if watching the episodes of FRIENDS hasnt got you up and cheering; You are definately ALIEN. Not to Worry; there still might be hope. Try watching the BLOOPER reels of FRIENDS. It is bound to get you up and running again.
3. Other tamer techniques for you TV-Phobes(Yes, these breed of people do exist; if you didnt know) involves taking lengthy Cold Water Showers. It is said that Cold Water(Bwwrrr) apart from sending chills down your spine, relaxes your mind and thougth.
4. There is the tried and tested method ---> CRYING on a confidant's shoulders. Although it does'nt or rather has'nt solved any problems till date, it does make one experience temporary relief.
5. Lest all the afore mentioned options fail you, we resort to our Secret Weapon.
What's more depressing, a Kid getting stacked while riding a Skateboard or the reason behind your own self inflicted sorrow? You'd surely agree that the kid's heart rendering tale of being hit in the groin wins hands down over any other cause of depression you can come up with. It is Infalliable and works like an charm.
I leave you with the words of Barney Stinson who says, When I get sad, I stop being sad and be AWESOME instead.
Tschau.
PS: The title is in no way suggestive of the fact that this post prescribes Psuedo Shrink cures for depression ranging from the crude 'Lets talk it out' to calling your friend in Shrink school to teach you to perform a make-belief psychoanalysis on your depressed friend just to make your ego feel better nor is it the intention of this post to belittle the disease that is Depression.
PPS 1 : Sureshot Test for Self Pity ---> Continuous and persistent asking of the question WHY MEEE GOD, WHY MEEE OF ALL PEOPLE ???
PPS 2 : Remedies 1 and 2 are recommended to be in the accompaniment of abundant scoops of Ice-cream for best results.
Barney Stinson makes life seem so easy and fun! nd about the depression, watchign friends sure help. But if the depressions is the normal sadness we come across. For major depression nothing actually works. Have a cousin having that!

Talking about Depression is one thing and experiencing extreme levels of depression is another thing altogether.
ReplyDeletePleasure's mine in getting stalked.
OK! While Barney Stintson and FRIENDS (albeit with a few dollops of ice cream...) are a sure shot cure. But you just might find a few more you like here
